Fun Friday Resources
/Let’s do visual art today.
We’ll start with the Art Institute of Chicago’s public domain offerings, a huge treasure trove of work both familiar and new. (If you want to see everything, click on the Show Filters button, scroll to the bottom of the list to SHOW ONLY, and adjust accordingly.)
Meanwhile, over in the Rijksmuseum, you can create your own “tour” or collection using their Rijk Studio interface. Very much worth exploring.
The Uffizi gives us an online exhibition of illustrations for Dante’s Inferno by Federico Zuccari.
The Library of Congress has public domain WPA-era posters for all kinds of themes that are still relevant.
Finally, our friends at Public Domain Review have a killer exhibit of book covers from 1820–1914. Beautiful, beautiful (and sometimes inexplicable) objects.
And that should keep you busy with enough things to STEAL FROM THE BEST.
