Fun Friday Resources

If you use background sounds or music as part of your RITUAL while you work, this week has a couple of websites for you.

First up is CalmyLeon, a lovely flexible sound generator. It makes quiet soundscapes, aural wallpaper that simply is there. You can control nearly every aspect of the generator, from inputs to mixes to white noise range. NOTE: Scroll down for a lot more info.

If you are a MyNoise.net patron (as I am), CalmyLeon offers a deeper level of access, i.e., more base sounds plus the ability to choose more than two inputs AND the ability to save presets that you like.

Next, if you are more the music-on-the-radio type, try InternetRadio. Scores of stations in All The Categories — 81 ambient music stations, for example — and I haven’t found one yet that had commercials.

The extra icons are what you get as a patron.

Here’s what I’m listening to: I have Sleep Radio Stream from New Zealand playing in one tab, while CalmyLeon is playing nothing but rain noise in another tab. Settings look like this:

I don’t know how productive this combo will make me, but as a background for These Times, it’s perfect.

When I’m working, I tend to vacillate between ambient space music and trance/EDM/whomp-whomp music. There’s enough here to keep me vacillating for a long while.

What sounds good to you?
