Lizard decorating, part 5

The story so far: I stripped a decorative metal lizard of its peeling paint, recoated it with a metallic sheen spray paint, did the same with a test piece of metal, and did some sketches:

The next step is to start painting. This is the scary part, because no matter how many times you say ABORTIVE ATTEMPTS to yourself the fact is that once you dip your 000 Round brush in the enamel, you’re committed. If it globs or runs or smears, there’s not a lot you can do to fix it.

Knowing this, I started anyway.

I will go back over the white spirals and the eyes with the translucent phosphorescent paint.

Time for some GESTALT — dots down the black lines: all white, or an excruciatingly complex sequence of colors?
