Fun Friday Resources
/Any writers out there? This week is for you.
First, I follow Chuck Wendig on Twitter—he’s consistently funny and entertaining, and he’s a best-selling author to boot. (How can you not follow someone whose latest tweet was:
FRIDAY. THROW YOUR PANTS IN THE BONFIRE AS SACRIFICE. PICK A BOOK TO WORSHIP, FOR BOOKS CONTAIN MANY GODS. MIX A FANCY COCKTAIL FROM THE BLEATS OF THOSE WHO HAVE DISPLEASED YOU. SING THE UNHOLY SONG OF UNMITIGATED DEBAUCHERY AND LET THE WORLD QUIVER. HAPPY #FUCKITFRIDAY, FRANDOS

Done and done.
Anyway, Chuck has a new book out, and if you are a fiction writer at all you should go read his Five Things I Learned Writing ‘Wanderers.’ Then read his book.
From our friends at Open Culture, a discursion on Anton Chekhov’s Six Rules For Writing Fiction.
Finally, amuse yourself by checking Austin Kleon’s Amazon shop. He put it together because his readers were always asking him for advice about pencils, notebooks, what to read, etc. It’s a fun little collection; I was surprised and delighted to see Lewis Hyde’s The Gift there. It is not easy reading, but if you stick with it it will change your outlook on just about everything. (See also Hyde’s Trickster Makes This World.) I myself will start reading Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird… soon… ish.
